The optimization involves the following elements:
- Vertical Market Research & LSI Keyword Research
- Site Architecture & Internal Linking Structure Rebuilding
- Thematic (LSI) Content Development
- Link Building & Article Marketing
The correct web site architecture and internal linking structure is vital in the new search engine optimization model. Existing site need to be restructured and new sites have to be rebuilt the right way from scratch. This means compartmentalizing sections of the website into themed silos, where only relevant content as determined by the search engines themselves is contained within that section of the site. Furthermore the silo needs to be self contained with no irrelevant links to other parts of the site that would dilute the theme density. To this end special linking structures are needed to ensure that visitors can access all areas of the website but search engines can only spider certain parts from specific areas of the site with use being made of one way internal linking. There needs to be several silo's on themes the search engines determine are closely related. Again these need to be self contained. Only the home page would link to the silo's and the silo index pages link to the content pages inside the silo. Again human visitors can access any part of the site from all pages but the search engine spiders only see the relevant silo theme structure.
If the existing site doesn't contain all the relevant silo's or sections needed to make the theme density of the site high enough then content and additional section have to be added to the site.
This site hierarchy will together with the right keyphrases and unique content will enable the search engines to spider your site and determine that it is very tightly themed based on it's LSI algorithm and give it a major boost in the search engines.
Themed Content Development:
Obviously along with the site architecture, the website needs good content based on the right keywords so the search engines can determine the theme of the site. After the keyword research is done we will develop a site blueprint. This will show the structure of the site and show which keyphrases need to be included on which pages to maximize the LSI based theme of the site. From this blueprint we will the go about creating the content of your site based on the right keyphrases and ensuring the optimum theme density.
An important point here is that the aim is to cover all possible variations of keywords within your market. Unlike traditional SEO where one optimized page represented one or at most 2 - 3 keyphrases. With the new approach one page can have as many as 30 - 50 keywords. Remember these aren't just variations of the same keyword which would make this impossible in the old school approach and would be seen as keyword stuffing or spamming. These are synonyms and expert terms that flow naturally through the text. Basically this is the way a subject matter expert would write … unlike the unnatural multiple repetition of keywords you would get with conventional SEO. So not only do you have the benefit of getting ranked on far more keywords, the text actually flows far more naturally to the visitor who is reading the content. Just to put this into perspective … with LSI based search engine optimization on a 30 page site would be optimized for 750 - 1000 keywords. A top level 100 page site would be optimized for 3000 - 5000 keywords! Bearing in mind an important fact that over half the searches in the major search engines are unique searches … meaning one time searches that will never show up in any keyword research tool, you understand the power of this in being able to have a site ranked for many combinations of keywords that you would never have thought of due to the theming and number of synonymic keywords on the pages. Hopefully now you are being able to appreciate the sheer power of this approach.
Keyword Research & Market Research
Whereas conventional SEO would involve entering a number of seed terms and looking for long tail keywords that have high searches but low competition ... with the new approach the aim is to completely dominate all the keywords in the market from top to bottom regardless of the levels of competition. In fact using LSI and silo theming, competition becomes far less important as the techniques are so advanced it is possible to bypass most competition anyway … even for sites with huge numbers on inbound links and high page rank (PR).
However we don't start at the normal keyword level. We take a vertical view of the top of your market. Starting with a very broad theme. From this we can get a top down view of the market and find related themes that we may not have considered to add to the theme of the site. We utilize market research to find the value of the keyword themes, market share of the keywords and themes, profitability of the particular theme and a number of other factors. We conduct several vertical market drill downs, then select the best theme or themes to use for the clients website.
Then we move down through different levels of the intended site structure, from the project level, silo level down to the article level and finally generate a site blueprint consisting of all the kyphrases we need to include in the entire site and which pages these should be on.
Latent Semantic Indexing:
Latent Semantic Indexing or LSI for short is the new way the top search engines determine the theme of a website or web page. It works by analysing language and determining relationships between different words. This is know as co-occurance. When a page has a number of related words then search engines are able to accurately determine the theme of the page. This mirrors the way a human would determine the theme of the page.
The search engines assess the theme quality based on not just the keyword density of a single phrase repeated throughout the text as in old school SEO … but on an overall theme density! This theme density takes into account synonyms related to the main topic.
These are not just the synonyms that you will find in a thesaurus but search engine synonyms. These are words and phrases that the search engines find on authority sites on the subject and especially what are called statistically improbably phrases and expert verbiage.
The first of these terms are phrases that occur frequently on authority sites on the same theme but which are unlikely to occur on sites in other niches (at least not as frequently).
The second term (expert verbiage) in most cases are also statistically improbable phrases but specifically refers to specialized vocabulary used by experts in that industry.
The use of search engine proven synonyms, statistically improbably keyphrases, expert verbiage and co-occurance and other factors in the LSI algorithm allows the search engines to determine the theme of website or webpage with an extremely high degree of accuracy. This means the days of SEO spamming techniques and manipulating the search engine results with poor quality irrelevant content are over. New methods are required which focus on quality unique LSI themed content, silo structured websites with specific internal link structures and LSI based market and keyword research.
Our new packages will do all this to give client a major advantage in the natural search results that will allow them to dominate their vertical market.
Link Building and Article Marketing:
This part is basically the same as conventional SEO, however with the new search engine model this has less importance. Previously it was possible to rank high just through having large numbers of links. Before that in the early days it was purely keyword density on a page that resulted in a high ranking ... now the major engines seem to have got the balance right with theme density across the whole site and individual pages combined with one way in-bound linking with more emphasis on high quality authority sites than large numbers of links from less important sites.
We work to get both "Trust Rank" quality directory links to your homepage and deep linking high PR links with themed anchor text to your internal pages. These elements in combination will give your site a huge advantage over any competitor and in time allow you to completely dominate your vertical market in the search engines
In Summary
1. LSI is ten times as effective as conventional keyphrases based SEO.
2. LSI can save clients a lot of money of they are spending heavily on high value CPC keyphrases.
3. Takes half the time to show verifiable results compared with conventional SEO
4. Works on the website/service theme and not just specific keyphrases
5. Lets search engines find your site for all semantically linked keyphrases rather than specific phrases you have optimised for.
